Say Goodbye to Hard Water Spots

You hear the terms “hard water” and “soft water” thrown around a lot, but do you really know what that means? To break it down, hard water contains dissolved minerals like calcium and magnesium and soft water is treated and only contains sodium.

Hard water is usually the preferred drinking water not only for the health benefits but also for the flavor, whereas soft water can sometimes taste a bit salty which can be off-putting to some.

So, why does it seem that soft water is universally preferred over hard water? Plain and simple, it’s because hard water is the culprit for the dinginess and residue on your faucets and shower doors. You also won’t get the bubbly feel-goods from your bath soaps with hard water and your hair may just not cooperate after washing with hard water.

Your Delta Glass specialists can’t do a whole lot about your bad-hair days, aside from recommending that you find a great, locally owned hat and scarf boutique. However, we can help you with the gunky leave-behinds from hard water.

Have you heard of Clear Choice? If Clear Choice isn’t a good option for you, we’ve still got you covered. Here are our top do-it-yourself ways for you to say goodbye to hard water spots.

Mix and Spritz
Add 1 cup of Dawn to a spray bottle. Heat 1 cup of vinegar. Add the vinegar to the spray bottle. Cool for a few minutes. Spritz like crazy on shower doors, walls, floor and faucet. Leave it alone for a bit (the longer the better) before rinsing.

Make it Zesty
Rub a lemon on the surfaces that have the gunky residue. Not only with the zesty citrus break down the scum but you’re bathroom will smell lemony-fresh-clean too!

Get Pasty
Create a paste of cleaning vinegar and salt. Rub the paste on the bad spots and leave alone for 10-15 minutes. Voilà! You have yourself a shiny, gunk-free surface.
